All of the restaurants listed below have been tried and tested by us and come highly recommended.
To make life easier we have divided Marbella into three areas (Old Town, Seafront and the Golden Mile) and listed our favourite restaurants in each.
Restaurants in Marbella Old Town
In the Old Town of Marbella (Casco Antiguo) there are some great tapas restaurants, and the best ones are up the cobbled streets hidden behind large wooden doors. There are also some elegant and stylish restaurants situated near the church and in Orange Square in the centre.
Has charming indoor and outdoor patio areas for summer dining. Famous for excellent red wines, including the best vintages from the vineyards of the province. The chef is known for his roast pork, perfectly flavored with cumin. He serves the freshest of fish from the day's catch, which he then grills. Open daily for lunch and dinner. |
One of my favourite Spanish restaurants located in cobbled street off Orange Square. Also offers an extensive and different tapas menu. Juan Lozano has been serving guests in Marbella for 26 years with specialties including savoury rice dishes (fabulous paella) and braised meats cooked over an open fire. Open Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 19:00 to 24:00. Saturdays 18:00 to 24:00. |
Restaurant for meat eaters serving excellent Argentinian steaks, Chateaubriand and other selected grilled meats. Also serves some very creative salads. It is located up a narrow street just just off of Orange Square. Open Monday to Saturday from 19.30. |
A highly recommended upmarket international restaurant located in an old converted house just off Plaza Altamirano, a few blocks away from the Main Church Square. Zozoi offers the finest Mediterranean Cuisine off a select menu that changes by season and includes some great daily specials. It offers cosy interior dining with al fresco dining on the patios in the warmer months.Great atmosphere and open every day for dinner except Sundays. Great food and excellent service. |
Restaurants on Marbella Sea Front
All of the restaurants below are on the main esplanade which runs between Marbella and Puerto Banus and have sea views. They can be reached via the promenade or from the main street (Avenida Ricardo Soriano) which runs through Marbella Town.
There are also loads of chiringuitos directly on the beach which serve excellent fish including grilled sardines during the season.
Michelin star restaurant which is home to local chef Dani García. Calima has a stunning waterfront setting and ultra modern interior with cubist white club chairs, dark hardwood floors and a glass-enclosed kitchen. A really special place to eat offering a choice of menu degustacions (tasting samples of selected menu items) a various prices. This is truly fabulous food but it is not a cheap night out. Main courses include jumbo prawns or slow-roasted lamb served sizzling to the table. Andalusian ham and alocally produced sherry complement dishes of lobster or spring salad with olive oil clouds and snails or cherry gazpacho with anchovies and queso-fresco snow. Booking essential. |
Overlooking the Mediterranean, Da Bruno Sul Mare offers an extensive selection of the best Italian cuisine. There are several Pasta da Bruno Italian restaurants on the Costa del Sol which are very popular all year round with local residents and tourists. You will find plenty of choice on the menu including fresh pasta, pizza, fish, steaks or vegetarian options. Their house wines are good and reasonably priced. Particular favourites of ours are the the cream of tomato soup and fresh pasta with pesto sauce. |
Garum overlooks the sea in Marbella with a large outside terrace and modern interior with a conservatory like appearance. They offer a menu del dia which is very reasonably priced or a table d'hote menu with dishes including cold gazpacho with ratatouille, herb oil and balsamic vinegar, chicken fillet lasagne with tarragon cream cheese served with fresh tagliatelle and green asparagus and foie gras vienetta with white chocolate You will find the largest selection of cheesecakes here that you are ever likely to see. Children can choose between rosada fish with chips and chicken or pasta bolognaise. The cellar offers a good selection of Spanish wines produced in small vineyards. |
Traditional Spanish restaurant located just a few metres from the stepped entrance to the Paseo del Maritimo. Look for a restaurant with suit of armour at the entrance. Good place to sit on the seafront in Marbella and watch the world go by. Serves a good range of paellas at excellent prices as well as a three course menu del dia which usually costs about €8. Their fried fish Malaga is easily enough for two and is so fresh you can almost taste the sea! Very friendly staff and good service. |
Restaurants on Marbella Golden Mile
These restaurants can all be accessed via the carretero (road) which runs from Marbella to Puerto Banus. The only one that you have to turn off to reach is Small World Cafe.

Fronted by James Hewitt (one time lover of the late Princess Diana) Polo House offers al fresco terraces, an elegant, fine dining restaurant with a colonial feel that houses a baby grand piano and dance floor. You can go there for aperitifs, light bar snacks from the "Chukka Tukka" menu, a full meal or after dinner cocktails. There is varied live entertainment followed by dancing with a resident DJ until the early hours. Not the greatest food in the world, but a great place to people watch and sit back and enjoy the entertainment. |
Website: www.smallworldcafe.com Small World is a cozy, laid back café serving fresh food at reasonable prices. Very extensive menu offering large portions of good quality, local produce at low prices. We often go here for a quick bite to eat and never dissapointed. Food is always consistent and good value. |
Sandro Morelli has been the owner of Villa Tiberio for over 18 years and it is known for its high standards and excellent service. It's a place for couples or a family rather than a "girls night out". Dining al fresco is a real treat as the gardens have been designed to include fountains, statues and romantic lighting to make you feel as though you are eating in the ground of a fabulous Italian villa. The pasta is home made, the sauces rich and full of flavour and the osso bucco made with Dutch veal is exceptionally good. The fettuccine salmone is made with the finest Scottish smoked salmon or you can try Capesanti e gamberoni alla thermidor (scallops and jumbo prawns served in a cream and brandy sauce); porchetta alla Villa Tiberio (crispy roast suckling pig - my favourite): anitra a l'orange (duck baked with orange and curaçao liqueur) and baby lamb braised in Barola wine. These are only a few of the restaurant's signature dishes. |
