Maria Zambrano Station

Maria Zambrano Station & Vialia Shopping Centre

Estación Maria Zambrano

Maria Zambrano Station is a Hub, where you can travel to many different places including Madrid, Cordoba, Barcelona and Bilbao.  Maria Zambrano is also on the Malaga Cercanias Line which is the ´Local Malaga Train Line´ that goes as far as Álora and Fuengirola including stops to Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga Airport.

The Station itself is situated inside the Vialia Shopping Centre.  Just outside of the Station / Shopping Centre there is Malaga Metro, Estación de El Perchel, (Calle Explanada de la Estación), which is handy to know if you are staying in Malaga using the Metros.

Furthermore, there is also Malaga Bus Station (Estación de Autobuses) as you leave the station via the main doors, as per the photo above, turn left and left again and you will find the Bus Station on your right.

Also, attached to Maria Zambrano / Vialia is a Barcelo 4 Star Hotel,  so as you can probably understand so far, this really is a fantastic area to know about and maybe stay in if you are travelling around.

The downside is that you are still not in the City Centre, you would need to either walk, which is about a 15 / 20 minute walk or take a taxi or bus as the Metro doesn’t go directly into the City Centre, yet.  At this very moment, there are lots of roadworks around the City due to the extension of the Metro.

Larios Shopping Centre which houses even more shops and restaurants inlcuding Primark is just a 3/4 minute walk from here, as you leave the station as above, you should see Larios in the distance over to your left.

People with Reduced Mobility

As this Shopping Centre is still quite new, there are some great features for people with reduced mobility including, special Disabled Travellers Service, toilets, parking, wheelchair hire, adapted lifts and platforms.  If you require any type of assistance just go to the information desk on the ground floor.  We do recommend that you have some form of identification, NIE or Passport for Wheelchair hire.

Barcelo Hotel at Maria Zambrano / Vialia Shopping

The four star Barcelo Malaga Hotel and Convention Centre can be accessed via the station. It is a brand new, modern hotel with 222 comfortable guest rooms , but we personally love the slide that runs all the way down to ground floor.  Very funny seeing businessmen suited and booted coming down the slide.  Staying here as a base is ideal for business travellers or for exploring Malaga City.  The taxi rank and bus station are located in front of the main exit and of course trains are on hand to transport you to locations locally and further afield.

Driving Directions to Maria Zambrano Station

To reach the station by car from Malaga Airport drive on to Avenida de Andalucia, take a right at the El Corte Ingles roundabout, carry on straight until you reach a roundabout with the Eroski Shopping Centre and then turn left onto the Calle de la Explanada de la Estación.  It is quite clearly signposted.  The station will come into a view after a few minutes on the right. It is just a two minute walk from the older style Larios Shopping Centre which offers a great selection of shops.

So, to be clear Malaga Bus Station & Maria Zambrano & Vialia are all in the same area.  Depending on which door you exit the Shopping Centre, the Bus Station is practically right outside.  Maria Zambrano is the Station which is inside the Vialia Shopping Centre.    Across the road in the short distance you will see the older shopping centre, Larios Shopping, which is home to more shops and restaurants and also Primark.
