Maria Zambrano Station

The new railway station at Malaga Airport is due for completion 2010 and it will link to the Maria Zambrano Train Station in Malaga which also offers the Vialia Shopping Mall and Leisure Centre and a 4 star hotel.

This station was completed in 2006 and has increased the train lines from 5 to 8 providing local routes and high speed AVE links to major cities including Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.

Layout of Maria Zambrano Station

The new station is bright and airy with a simple lay out. When you arrive there by train there is a newsagents and cafeteria next to the platforms and once through the exit doors there is a luggage scanner on the left for people boarding trains and on the right there is a Unicaja ATM, luggage storage lockers and public telephones.

At the main entrance to the station there are 12 ticket desks and 2 information desks, plus automatic check-in kiosks which also allow passengers to make changes to their reservations. The local trains are the Cercanías Renfe: the C2 trains which go towards Fuengirola and the C1 which head to downtown Malaga, stopping at Malaga Pablo Picasso Airport which is just four stops from Maria Zambrano Station.

You will also find four Malaga car hire firms here: Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National Atesa. To get a free online quote for car hire in Malaga fill the form in the left.

The four star Barcelo Malaga Hotel and Convention Centre can be accessed via the station. It is a brand new, modern hotel with 222 comfortable guest rooms and offers a very extensive breakfast buffet.

Staying here as a base is ideal for business travellers or for exploring Malaga as the taxi rank and bus station are located in front of the main exit, and of course trains are on hand to transport you to locations further afield.

Maria Zambrano Station is open between 06:15 and 21:30. There is parking in front for 1,500 vehicles: 1,250 underground and 250 on ground floor level. Visitors travelling by long distance or high speed train on Preferential, First and Club Class get 24 hours free parking per ticket; so a return ticket to Madrid would entitle you to 48 hours free parking.
