Estepona, like Marbella is both an area and a town, and is much more typically Spanish than say Puerto Banus. Lying around 75 kms from Malaga Airport and approximately 30kms from Gibraltar. It is near the most southern point of Spain.
Estepona is a busy Market town with a long marble paved sea front promenade which is lovely for a long stroll.
Estepona Beaches start from around Heaven Beach which is near Agro Jardin Garden Centre past the Kempinski Hotel right through Estepona Town and out the other end going towards Manilva.
For beach lovers I think that the beaches in Estepona are considerably better.

Very few tourists stay in the actual town of Estepona and most of the Estepona Hotels are situated along the beaches or on the many Golf courses that are located here.
With the development of the marina at Estepona port more more apartments are available with their own pools etc or you can stay in cheaper accommodation on the outskirts of the town..
There are a few things for kids to do in Estepona. So if you are here for just a weekend or need to keep occupied during the summer holidays I’m sure you will find something to keep the kids occupied for a while. The nightlife in Estepona is very different from the glitzy nearby resort of Puerto Banus, but there is plenty to do here – especially during the summer months – when you will find entertainment ranging from karaoke bars and discos to Celtic music and flamenco shows.
Because Estepona is an area as well as a Town, to list every single restaurant would be far too difficult and I guarantee that before I have finished typing them all, one restaurant would have closed down to be replaced by another. In Estepona Town itself there are some great tapas restaurants, some are so busy you do need to book, but will be worth it.
There are quite a few schools in the Estepona Area, Private Spanish & International and Spanish State Schools. Here we are going to list the main Private Schools. If you are looking for State schools in Estepona its best to go to the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) and ask for a list of local schools.
Estepona for shopping? Well it depends on what you need. In Estepona itself, meaning Estepona Town Area then there are a number of shops, but the only big high street shop really is Mango. For a shopping centre you would need to go towards Algeciras or La Cañada.

Estepona Weather is pretty similar to the Weather in Marbella. When the sun is shining the beaches in Estepona look amazing.
Most of the Year the sun is shining and there can be days when you can sunbath throughout the whole year. However, when it rains, it really does rain here…
You can get flights to either Gibraltar or Malaga, Gibraltar is only accessible from the UK via Manchester, Luton and Gatwick where as Malaga Airport offers many more flight options and whilst being slightly further away its still only an hours drive from the Airport.
