Theme Parks & Kids Activities Costa Del Sol

Theme Parks & Kids Activities Costa Del Sol

Coming on your Summer Holidays with Kids?  Whilst the pool and beach will probably be enough to keep them occupied, you may want to keep this page handy!

When we first started this Guide back in 2003, we had a little baby girl and over the years we visited many of the parks listed below and kept you up to date with our own personal reviews.  That little baby girl isn´t a baby girl anymore, so sadly, we just don’t go to these places regularly enough to give you our personal view.

However, Social Media is here where you can read reviews on Facebook, Twitter and even in Google, so we are going to link you through directly to these pages to save you time searching the internet.   Real reviews by real people, so you decide!

The majority of the places listed below also do Birthday Parties and also have annual passes which work out excellent value if you live here or are a regular visitor to the Costa Del Sol.  Also, do keep your eyes out for little discount cards for these attractions, they are usually in some of the Car Hire Places, Shopping Centres and Supermarkets.

We have broken this down to areas, Torremolinos to Benalmadena, Fuengirola to Mijas, La Cala to Elviria, Marbella to San Pedro, Estepona to Gibraltar.

Torremolinos & Benalmádena Area

Aqualand, Torremolinos

Great fun for the kids and adults, one of the biggest water parks on the Coast with a huge amount of rides for all ages.  There are kids shows, flamenco shows, restaurants and gardens where you can take a picnic.  It does get very busy and you can be queuing quite a while for some of the rides, so get there early and rent the rings as soon as you can.

Crocodile Park, Torremolinos

A purpose built Crocodile Park with 300 Crocodiles and exotic water birds . You can even hold one! There are guided tours and shows, mini zoo, kids play area, cafeteria and even a baby crocodile nursery to see.  If you book online you can get a 25% discount so well worth it!

Battery Park, Parque de la Bateria, Torremolinos

A really nice park, a bit like Paloma Park in Benalmadena, but it has a large boating lake which is really cheap.  The only thing is it does close for Siesta, so avoid hours 1.30pm to 4pm.

Selwo Marina – Benalmadena

We loved this place when we used to go, but you do need to check show times.  If you miss the shows you may not feel you get value for money as its not very big, so make sure you check time of shows before you leave!  You can also get an annual pass which can work out really good value.

Paloma Park, Benamalmadena

Right next to Selwo Marina, this is a huge park with a lake, parks and playgrounds, a little farm area and rabbits running loose everywhere.  It really is lovely.  Do be very careful of Gypsies wandering around and coming up to you giving you flowers or asking you questions…they are very quick and will take your purse!

Sea Life Centre – Benalmadena

Sea Life Benalmádena is a magical marine experience on the Costa del Sol, with over 500.000 litres of water in which swim more than 5.000 different creatures, including species from the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific Oceans and even creatures normally found in the Red Sea.

Teleferico Cable Car – Benalmadena

If you like heights and scenery then you must take a trip on the Cable Car that will take you to the peak of Calamorro where you can do a donkey ride, see Spanish horse riding displays or do a bit of rambling, then take a coffee in the cafeteria with its amazing views over Malaga Coastline.

Tivoli World, Benalmadena

This was one of our favourites when our daughter was younger, so much going on everywhere, with lots of rides and entertainment shows to keep everyone occupied.  Loved the Summer Months where it didn’t open until about 6pm and closed around 3am.  Sounds crazy but the truth is its just too hot during the day.  Prices below are the entrance fees…just to enter the park.  Once you are inside you then need to buy Tivolinos which are the tickets to get yourselves on all the rides.

Butterfly Park, Mariposario de Benalmadena

We loved this place, fun, colourful and educational.  More than 1,500 exotic butterflies from all over the world, all fly freely in the beautiful surroundings of waterfalls and flowers.  You can see how they are born, how they reproduce and learn many more facts about this little insects.  It really is worth a visit.

Costa Water Park, Benalmadena

There are 8 of these Inflatable Obstacle Courses in the Sea along the Costa Del Sol, Benalmádena, 3 in Fuengirola, Mijas Costa, Calahonda, Puerto Banus and Sotogrande. This is great fun for both kids and adults.  Good value as its so energetic that you generally cannot do any more than an hour.  An inflatable obstacle course in the sea, a bit like that programme WipeOut.  If you have young, small kids, do be very careful if the water is rough.  Last year there were some really rough days where kids were being thrown everywhere, after which it closed until waters were calmer, so please do take care and do not leave it to the life vest.  Make sure there is an adult out there.

Fuengirola & Mijas Area

Bioparc Fuengirola / Fuengirola Zoo

This zoo was one of our favourite places to go to, we even bought the annual pass which was fantastic value if you went a few times a year.  The park isn´t too big but there is so much to do and see and you must find out the times of the shows as these are well worth seeing,  especially in the summer months when the zoo is open at night, the show is amazing.

Aquatic Park / Mijas Water Park

Personally, we prefer this to Torremolinos, maybe because it feels a bit smaller and the rides don’t seem as scary.   We spend all day here, take a pack lunch or eat in the restaurants.   Lots of other activities, shows, mini-golf, dancing and we love the water aerobics!  There are lockers and the toilets and changing rooms are generally spotless with cleaners working all day long.  There are discounts if you go in the late afternoon and you may find discount vouchers around too.

  • Juniors 8 – 12 years  18.50€
  • Kids 3 – 7 years 13.50€

La Cala to Elvira

Aventura Amazonia, Elviria

We love this place, great day out for adults and kids and also as part of a Work / Team Bonding Experience.    You will go through training session with qualified instructors and the safety of the harnesses have been improved so it is safer than ever.  Different courses for different levels and ages.  Lots of places to sit and eat, so feel free to take a picnic.  Prices seem to have risen quite a lot since it opened, but you may be able to pick up some discount vouchers or online.

Marbella to San Pedro

The Boulevard, San Pedro

The Boulevard isn´t a theme park, but it is a great place to go with your kids.  A huge pedestrianised area in the centre of San Pedro, on top of the tunnel, full of parks and playgrounds for kids of all ages, lots of places to sit and rest, cafes and restaurants, ice skating rink and also an outdoor Theatre.  A really lovely place to meet up with friends where the kids can run free.

Costa Jump, San Pedro

The latest addition to the Costa Del Sol is Costa Jump, a huge trampoline park, who also own the Costa Water Parks.  Kids of all ages love it.  We have been once and it was good fun, loud music, loads of energy, a cafe upstairs too which overlooks the kids.  Friends with 2 or more kids say it works out quite expensive, especially when the kids are begging stay another hour.    Sessions are on the hour every hour and you need to arrive in good time.

Costa WaterPark, Puerto Banus

This is great fun for both kids and adults.  Good value as its so energetic that you generally cannot do any more than an hour.  An inflatable obstacle course in the sea, a bit like that fab programme WipeOut.  If you have young, small kids, do be very careful if the water is rough.  Last year there were some really rough days where kids were being thrown everywhere, after which it closed until it became calmer, so please do take care and do not leave it to the life vest.

  • All Day Pass 25€
  • On the hour every hour, must arrive 15 minutes beforehand

Estepona to Gibraltar Area

Kids Kingdom, Cancelada

Another place we practically lived in when our daughter was very young and a very popular place for birthday parties.  A huge ball park with lots of obstacle courses and slides which keeps the kids entertained for ages.  Its also a perfect place to get out of the sun in the hot months.

Selwo Adventure Park Estepona

Another favourite of ours when our daughter was young.  We used to spend hours here, taking the trucks all the way to the top and walking all the way down via the rope bridges.  So much to see and do, and lots of fantastic shows and talks about the animals so be sure to check times.  You can take a picnic or eat there in one of their restaurants.  If you are a regular visitor or live here, it could be worth looking at buying an annual pass.

Castellar Zoo, Castellar de la Frontera

We still go to this Zoo a couple of times a year and enjoy more each time.  It is a rescue centre which has really improved its facilities over the years and continue to do so.  There is often a little baby money or tiger which they have rescued at the entrance which everyone falls in love with.    Its not overly expensive and you can get really up close with the animals.  At the entrance you can also buy bags of food for a 1€.  We love this place and highly recommend everyone going.  Its about another 15  minutes on from Sotogrande School, so a bit of a drive but well worth it.

Costa Water Park, Sotogrande
