Gibraltar
When we first moved here we went to Gibraltar a couple of times as it was easier buying all baby stuff from Mothercare in English. But we didnt like it, so didnt go back for ages.
But, we have recently been going a little more frequently...I think it has improved quite a bit and there are some better shops there like La Senza, Monsoon, Early Learning Centre, Tommy Hilfiger, Marks and Spencers, Top Shop. Theres even Morrisons Supermarket that used to be Safeway.
When we go there we tend to spend a fortune. I realised that in Top Shop the other day...a pair of jeans in Gibraltar was either 40 pounds or 60 euros. When the same jeans in La Canada were 58 euros. So they do bring the price down a little.
I think what it is is familiarity, BHS, Marks & Spencers. The way things are merchandized are much better than here in Spain...I think. You just seem to want to buy, well I do anyway.
To drive to Gibraltar is just 50 minutes from Marbella. Lately we have been driving on and the queue hasnt been too bad. Just a short wait of about 10 to 15 minutes. When we first moved here we queued up for hours to get on and off it was terrible.
If you fancy a day trip then I would definitely go to Gibraltar even if its just once. Its strange crossing the border and entering Little Britain. Everyone speaks English or a mix of both Spanish and English.
You can drive or take a tour up the Rock to visit the Caves and the Monkeys.
Dont forget your passport if you go!!!
