Malaga Airport is the international airport of the region of Andalucia in Spain accounting for 85% of its international traffic. The new terminal 3 building at Malaga Airport opened earlier this year. It was designed by Bruce S Fairbanks and built at a cost of €410M. It is adjacent to Terminal 2 and it has an area of 250,000m², which is more than double the size of Terminal 2. The new terminal has largest airport food hall in Europe and the first airport National Geographic Store in the world
It has 86 check in counters, 20 new boarding gates (twelve with air bridges) and 12 baggage reclaim carousels: 9 European Union, 2 non-European Union and one special baggage reclaim carousel. The Terminal has more than doubled Malaga Airport’s capacity to 30 million passengers or 9,000 an hour.
