I travel from Spain to the UK on a regular basis and with all the extra security measures was beginning to think that travelling by air was a nightmare. That is until I got rid of the suitcase I always checked into the hold and started travelling light with just hand luggage.
What a difference! I have managed to significantly reduce the amount of time spent at the UK and Spanish airports by eliminating the need to queue at check in desks. I can now go straight to security and through to the departures lounge. I travel to Gatwick frequently and in the past have sometimes have to wait for an hour or more for my luggage to appear on the carousel – with my hand luggage I’m just off the plane and out of there!
If you check on your airline’s website you can find out the maximum size of the hand luggage you are allowed to carry on. You are still restricted with the amount of toiletries you can take into the cabin, but you will often find that you can purchase items more cheaply at a Spanish supermarket.

Humberside Airport does not have its own railway station but is well located for local connections via Doncaster to the mainline rail network. The nearest station is Barnetby which is just 5km from the airport and offers regular services to Doncaster. |

Humberside Airport offers short and long term parking options, Short stay car park is directly opposite the terminal (follow signs for Car Park 1) with no advance payment needed: simply turn up, park and pay on departure. A drop-off zone for departing passengers and their luggage is available outside the terminal. If you are meeting passengers from arriving flights you should park in the short stay Car Park 1.
