Birmingham International Airport is 10.2 km east of Birmingham in Solihull. It is the sixth busiest airport in the UK and will be under development up until 2030, with the first major change being an extension to the main runway to be completed in time for the 2012 London Olympics. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars to get something to eat and drink at Birmingham Airport both landside and in the passenger only zone after security. Black cabs are the only cabs licensed to operate from the Birmingham Airport without prior booking. They operate a 24 hour service from outside the arrivals area of the terminal buildings. Each taxi can carry up to five passengers (some can take six), with luggage and are able to take wheelchairs. For journeys in Birmingham and Solihull metered fares will be displayed during the trip. As a guide, a trip from the airport to the city centre will cost in the region of £18.00 |

The buses leave from outside Terminal 1. The main bus services are the 900 (connecting Birmingham and Coventry via the airport) and the 966 (connecting Erdington and Solihull). Most journeys from the airport will cost £1.70 for a single ticket. NB: a number of bus services do not give change Coaches arrive and depart from bus stop G in front of Terminal 1 arrivals. Long-distance coach services are operated by National Express and Megabus to a range of destinations in the UK, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and Luton Airports. |

Although there is no train station at the airport, Birmingham International Station is a two minute journey away by a free Air-Rail- Link monorail service which runs every two minutes. From here there are connections to the National Exhibition Centre and New Street Train Station which is in the centre of Birmingham. |

There are several options for parking at the car parks which are operated by NCP: Short/Medium stay 1,2 and 3: Multistorey car-parks 2 minutes from terminal buildings. Long-stay 1 and 2: 10 minute walk or a short bus ride of the terminals.
