flightsThe flying time from Belfast International Airport to Malaga in Spain is just over three hours. There are three airlines which operate routes from Northern Ireland to the Iberian Peninsula: easyJet, Thomson Flights and Aer Lingus

When flying into Spain bear in mind that you can significantly reduce the time you have to spend at your UK departure airport and Spanish destination airport if you only bring hand luggage.   You will not have to queue at check in desks, can go straight to security and don’t have to stand around waiting for you baggage to appear on the luggage carousel in the arrivals hall. And it is cheaper as you will not have to pay for hold luggage.

If you check on the website of the airline you are making the booking with you can find out the maximum size of the hand luggage you are allowed to carry on.  Obviously you are limited with the sizes of toiletries you can take into the cabin as part of the current security measures, but you will often find that you can purchase items more cheaply at a Spanish supermarket or Parafarmacia.

There are two airports in Belfast, with Belfast International Airport being the most convenient for the city of Belfast and East side of Northern Ireland. Southern Ireland (Eire) is only a one hour drive from Belfast Airport.

Belfast International Airport is located 21km northwest of Belfast City Centre in Aldergrove. If you are driving in from Belfast then head north on the M2 motorway and turn off at junction 5. The airport is situated off the A57, 11km from junction 5. From the south and west take the Moira junction on the M1 motorway then the A26 and Nutts Corner junction.

At Belfast International Airport there is a good range of shops on offer with well known brands including Boots and W H Smith along wit the usual duty free shops.

There is a  Business Lounge which is open  Monday - Friday:6:00am-10:00pm/ Saturday: 6:00am - 6:00pm/Sunday: 7:00am - 3:00pm

Admission to the lounge will only be accepted two hours before the scheduled time of departure. Admission charge: £15.00 per visit. Exclusive easyJet/bmibaby/Jet2.com rate: £12.00 per visit.Children over 12: £8.00

The International Airport Taxi Company is the official taxi operator for Belfast International Airport.  Cabs are available for hire 24 hours a day 7 days a week outside the right hand door of the airport exit lobby. 

Only taxis approved by Belfast International Airport are permitted to use the taxi rank and a list of sample fares is displayed in the exit hall of the terminal building.

As a rough guide a taxi from the airport into Belfast City Centre will cost around £28.00. A taxi share scheme to Belfast is available.

buses at Belfast Airport

Regular bus and coach services are available from the front of the terminal building to Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry. 

Airport Express 300 operates a 24 hour service between the airport and Belfast with buses departing every 15 minutes for most of the day with reduced frequencies at off peak times and weekends.  The bus leaves from the bus stop located opposite the terminal exit.

All three bus terminus provide access to Northern Ireland and inter country public transport networks
trains at Belfast Airport

The nearest railway station to the airport is Dyce, which is about 3.5km from the terminal and easily reached by bus or taxi.

There is no railway station at Belfast Airport but Antrim train station is six miles away and can be reached via taxi or the 109A bus service which departs from outside the terminal building hourly and terminates at Antrim bus station adjacent to the train station.

Services to and from Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry operate from the nearby town of Antrim, and passengers travelling to Dublin can connect with the high speed Enterprise train which departs from Belfast Central Station.

There are over 8,000 spaces available just outside the terminal entrance at Belfast Airport.

The Short Stay and Main car parks (perfect if you want to park for a few days/over a weekend) at the airport are situated within easy walking distance of the terminal building. A courtesy bus operates to and from the Long Stay car park which costs from just £4 a day when pre-booked
